There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world. Love of books is the best of all. -Jackie Kennedy
I encourage all of my students at NE to read and respond to postings on this page. I challenge all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to post a book talk about a book that they've read recently that they have enjoyed and would like to share with one of their friends. I'll also post books that I think that you'd like to read. Other teachers are also encouraged to contribute books that they think that their students or others would enjoy reading.
Here are some guidelines:
Please include:
Your Name: for example I may do Mrs. Snyder, Mrs. S. or if I was a student I'd put Emily S.
Title
Author
Why you liked the book
Who might want to read this book
A brief idea of what the book is about. (don't give away anything that would spoil any surprises)
Any questions you'd like friends to answer if they've read the book already.
Be sure to make this a fun experience!

Mrs. Snyder's Book Talk
ReplyDeleteTitle: Because of Winn Dixie
Author: Kate DiCamillo
I read this book a few years ago before I started teaching 5th grade and I loved it! I read it aloud to my students, have used it in book groups, and I also have recommended it to students to read many times. This book is about a young girl named Opal that finds a lost and quite energetic dog at a local store named Winn Dixie that she eventually named the dog after. They have many fun adventures together, and meet wonderful people in the town she moved to with her father. I would recommend this book to anyone that would like to read about dogs, interesting characters, or simply a wonderful little story that teaches many sweet lessons throughout. I personally liked this book because I felt really connected to the main character and loved how much positive energy she had. I also loved that she was so compassionate to this misfit dog! If anyone has read this book and has more to add I'd love that to happen too! I wanted to ask anyone if they have watched the movie. I hear it is good, but haven't yet. I always like reading the books more!
I have the feeling if you pick up this book to read, or listen to you'll really enjoy it a great deal! Happy Reading!
