I'm wondering what students think about award winning books. Have you heard about the Newbery and the Caldecott awards that books receive? These awards are given for the best writing (Newbery) and the best illustrations (Caldecott). Have you read some of the books with those awards on it. Are there books you would recommend to win those awards that haven't received them?
There are many other kinds of awards that books receive too, so anytime you see some kind of award on the book you are reading it would be great to check it out and see what you can find out about that award.

ReplyDeleteThe book Flotsam, illustrated by David Wiesner is a great book... although it doesn't have any words in it, the pictures are really cool!
